A group called White Lives Matter distributed fliers about a rally it was planning for Saturday at noon on the downtown square in Lexington.
Law enforcement officers gathered en masse to keep the peace should a disturbance break out, but all was quiet on the square from noon until 1 p.m.
The Milam and Burleson Counties Groundwater Summit will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 12.
The summit is free and open to the public with lunch provided.
Topics will cover a variety of issues. Speakers will discuss the status of water in Texas.

Herbie Vaughan’s career in firefighting and law enforcement began like so many others’ careers—he needed a job.
He was fairly fresh out of Aldine High School in Houston and wanted to go to work.
His first choice was law enforcement.
