TAYLOR WOMAN KILLED IN ROCKDALE

On November 4, 2023, at approximately 4:02 a.m. the Rockdale Police Department received a report of an auto vs. pedestrian crash at the intersection of Cameron Avenue at Scarborough Street. Janette Camacho, 23, of Taylor, was standing on the northwest corner of the intersection when she was struck by a westbound 2011 Nissan Sentra driven by Connor Jeter, 19, of Cameron. The preliminary investigation shows Jeter fell asleep and left the roadway, striking Camacho. Camacho was pronounced deceased at the scene by Milam County JP#3, Andy Isaacs. Jeter showed no signs of intoxication. The Texas Department of Public Safety is assisting the Rockdale Police Department with this investigation.
