Plans for Rockdale Christmas Roundup are now underway. Applications can be picked up at The Rockdale Reporter, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Rockdale Senior Citizen Center, Hunter’s Chase, McCawley Oaks, and local churches. Applications are also available at all school campuses and district offices.
The deadline to nominate families or individuals who are in need of assistance this Christmas will be Monday, Dec. 2.
Christmas Roundup has been serving local families for over 50 years, providing food and gifts to over 300 families in recent years. Coordination with other agencies in the community helps to make sure as many homes are served as possible.
Monetary donations can be deposited in the Christmas Roundup account at Citizens National Bank or sent to PO Box 766 in Rockdale. Gift donations can be taken to the Rockdale ISD Administration office or Rockdale Signs at any time. Donations can include new toys and gifts for infants to teens, blankets, toiletries, boxed-cereal and other non-perishable food items.
The Knights of Columbus Hall on Highway 79 has always been a gracious supporter of Christmas Roundup. The Hall will be open on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 4-7 p.m. to accept toy donations. On Monday December 16, the KC Hall will open at 9 a.m. for volunteers to help fill boxes for pickup.
Boxes will not be delivered to homes. All families will need to make arrangements to pick up their boxes at the KC Hall in Rockdale. Pick up dates are scheduled for Monday, Dec. 16 from 4-7 p.m. and Tuesday, December 17 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Volunteers are needed each day, but especially on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning to help with pickup. For additional information, contact Pam Kaufmann at 512-430-2771 or email pskaufmann1@gmail.com.
