YARD OF THE MONTH—Annette and Frankie Stone were awarded Yard of the Month for April by Rockdale Earth Day. Their beautiful 44-year-old azaleas are really putting on a show this spring, having been very well taken care of over the years and especially during last year’s week-long freeze and snow.

Police respond to four accidents during past week

Accidents • Officer Parker responded to the 1400 block of East Cameron Avenue for a two-vehicle accident with no injuries on Wednesday. • Officer Parker responded to a two-vehicle accident in front of O’Reilly’s Auto Parts on Friday.

Rockdale VFD Responded to: • 609 Burleson along with Oncor for a power line arcing on Wednesday. • 225 Estelle Drive for a fire alarm on Thursday. • 709 West US 79 for a vehicle on fire on Friday. • FM 2116 off South FM 487 for piles of burning embers on Friday.

ORGANIZATIONS

Senior Center seeking volunteers, donations The Rockdale Senior Center is in need of volunteers on Mondays to deliver Meals on Wheels twice per month. They are also asking for donations for their Angel Tree and seeking people to adopt a senior or buy items from their wish list.

Carne Adovada is delicious

Today let’s talk about those dried, red chilis you see at the store. This dish, Carne Adovada, is from New Mexico and the word adovada just means “marinated.” And that’s where the red chiles come in.
