Dear Motor Medics, I listen to your show every week and hear that Chris has a Toyota Prius. Welcome to the family Chris, I am a Prius owner too.
I have found that we Prius owners are a varied bunch. Some of us drive them for the cool features, others for the “green” element of the car, and ones like me who just want the best mileage I can get and, when I ran across the Prius, it just seemed to fit at the time.
There are so many things to learn though, I could almost use a school on them.
My question is about the mileage that has really dropped. I have about 30,000 miles on the car and I bought new tires a month ago. The tires are the exact brand as I had before, but when I had them installed; I noticed an immediate change of almost 3mpg less than before the tire change.
Can there be something wrong with the tires that could cause this?
