On Friday morning, the first of two implosions at Sandow Lakes Ranch (SLR) brought down three smokestacks, several concrete silos and a large piece of metal hanging off the side of Unit 5 power generating unit.
SLR’s vision is to honor the former Alcoa and its many employees by keeping the tallest tower which is the white Unit 3 tower in perpetuity. The tower is 535 feet tall.
The Unit 5 power generating building will be coming down in the next blast. That is the structure on the right in the above photos. Unit 4 will be repurposed.
The next implosion will come after clean-up of Friday’s blast takes place which is estimated to be between December and February.
The Reporter will have more information coming from representatives of SLR soon.
