A sesquicentennial bench will be dedicated for Dr. Lucile Estelle, Ed.D. at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 24, at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library near the side door on Cameron Ave. where the bench will remain. The bench is dedicated by members of the Thursday Reading Club in memory of Dr. Estell.
Reading Club president, Gloria Walker, said, “The bench will be dedicated to this long-time member of the club because of her dedication to civic and historic activities in Rockdale, Milam County and beyond. We hope everyone will come to help us honor her for her untiring work.”
Dr. Estell was one of the first to begin to recognize and publicize the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Trail, a member emeritus of the Milam County Historical Commission and member of the Texas Historical Commission where she received the prestigious John Ben Sheppard Award for Leadership and the Ruth Lester Lifetime Achievement Award. She was active in many other organizations.
Everyone is invited to this dedication.
