County, Brookshire Brothers in tentative agreement on vaccinations
Thursday the Milam County made a tentative agreement to partner with Brookshire Brothers to speed up the vaccination process. Brookshire Brothers pharmacy in Rockdale, under the direction of Sarah Goeres offered and the county accepted to partner, according to an email from County Judge Steve Young. Brookshire Brothers will allow the county to assist in the administration of the doses it receives. This allows the county to get the shots in arms faster.
"The partnership exemplifies the true spirt of working together to provide a lifesaving service that is in the best interest of every citizen of Milam County. We are hopeful that Brookshire Brothers will get 300 doses for the week of February 1, 2021 and we will assist to get all of those doses administered in a single day. We thank Sarah and Brookshire Brothers for this most gracious, public safety offer," Young wrote in the email.

Once on the list, someone will call to schedule an appointment. Right now there are almost 2,000 people on the list, but don't be deterred from getting on the list.
Thursday 58 individuals in Cameron were tested with 23 positive results. Overall, 2,708 individuals have been tested with 790 positive infections which is a 29% positivity rate. Today's testing is in Buckholts at the Buckholts VFD from 8 a.m. to noon. Milam County residents with COVID symptoms, may come by for a free antigen test.
Today we have 14 new PCR cases and 10 open PCR cases; no new antigen and 6 open antigen cases to report. Two individuals were admitted to a local hospital. We now have 15 Milam County residents hospitalized due to the virus, 3 of which are in serious condition.
