County COVID-19 positivity rate at 28%

Today's testing is in Thorndale at the Thorndale VFW from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Milam County residents with COVID symptoms, may get a free antigen test. Since Sept. 1 we have tested 2,553 individuals with 729 positive results with a 28% positivity rate.

"Today we were able to compile our numbers again. This is the first time in a week or so, since we turned the contact tracing over to the State. We do not count a case as active until we verbally confirm with the infected person that they did in fact, test positive. Since we turned this over to the state there are quite a few people who did not answer the state’s tracing call and thus, we have cases, but not yet confirmed, which is called an 'open case,'" County Judge Steve Young said in an email

Currently there are 131 new PCR cases, 114 discharged cases and 49 open cases. There are 99 new probable cases, 83 discharged probable cases and 65 open cases. Twelve individuals were admitted to local hospitals.

Current numbers:

1067 total PCR cases

17 active PCR cases

49 open PCR cases

740 antigen cases

16 active antigen cases

65 open antigen cases

267 currently being monitored

12 hospitalized-3 on ventilators
