Courthouse closed until Thursday

Bad weather is shutting down the Milam County Couthouse on Wednesday and it is closed today.

"Tonight we face more sleet, snow and freezing conditions.  Therefore the roads will be hazardous tomorrow and it makes no sense to come in on Wednesday.  In addition, many of you are without power and water.  We will reopen on Thursday," County Judge Steve Young said in an email.

 The county court and district court will be closed through Thursday and the grand Jury will not convene this week. 

"Our commissioners will be available as appropriate to deal with emergencies.  The sheriff is up and running as always," he said.
