Milam County death toll rises to 83

From Milam County Judge Steve Young

Again, I am saddened to report another COVID-19 related death in Milam County. This brings our death toll in the County to 83 individuals. Vaccinations prevent death and serious illness and thus we continue to urge vaccinations. Thankfully, over 48% of those eligible to be vaccinated in Milam County are now fully vaccinated.

Booster Shots: We are currently providing booster shots for those who were vaccinated with Pfizer. Next week we hope to get started with Moderna booster shots. Call 254-697-7000 and make an appointment to get a booster shot.

Infusion clinic: The State has now agreed to bring its mobile infusion unit to the County, effective Monday, November 1, 2021. The mobile unit will set up shop in the parking lot at the former Rockdale Medical Clinic. It plans to be open from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Those that get infected should consult with their treating physician about getting an infusion. Infusions received within 4-5 days of infection have proven to be 70% effective to prevent hospitalization.

Today, we have one new case to report and no new discharged cases to report. One individual was hospitalized as well.
