Milam County has had 10 COVID-19 deaths in past 10 days

"Today was another sad day for Milam County as I regret to advise of three more deaths in Milam County. We now have 28 COVID related deaths in Milam County since the pandemic started. This makes 10 deaths in the last 10 days," MIlam County Judge Steve Young wrote in an email on Thursday.

On the vaccination front, Thursday was a great day for our vaccination program in Milam County," Young wrote.

"Today, we set a record for the most done in the county in one day at 317 vaccinations! This was simply huge. I cannot say enough good things about the 20 volunteers who came to participate in the vaccinations. We just could not do this without the work of these caring, dedicated individuals who are out there working to keep us safe and secure," he said.

"We will continue with our COVID vaccination waiting list. Please call 254-697-7000 or email Amy Guillen at aguillen@milamcounty.net and we will get you on the list. Once on the list, we will call to schedule your appointment, when it is your turn. Today (Thursday), we have almost 2,400 people on the list, but do not let that deter you," he said.

Thursday 30 individuals in Cameron were tested with six positive results. Overall, the county has tested 2,880 individuals with 844 positive infections which is a 29% positivity rate. Today's testing is in Buckholts at the Buckholts VFD from 8 a.m. to noon.
