New event will kick off graduation week
This is an exciting time of year, especially for our seniors and their families. I am very thankful that, even though the year has not been 100% normal, the students have been able to participate in all of their normal events.
To finish the year, there are a lot of activities planned that will help our seniors celebrate. These activities include the continuation of a few traditions started last year and the beginning of another.
The festivities will begin with the start of a new event. Dia del Tigre/Senior Sunrise will take place May 21.
We will celebrate the last week of their high school career by watching the sun rise as a class at Tiger Stadium. RHS will provide breakfast and students will have time to reminisce.
Seniors will then have their finals Monday through Wednesday with graduation festivities picking back up on Thursday, their final day of school.
On that day, we will revisit our past with Senior Walk at Rockdale Elementary School. This event will look a little bit different this year but we are still thankful for the opportunity to carry on this tradition.
Continuing a tradition that started last year, parents of the Senior Class are planning a Senior Parade set for 6 p.m. May 27.
The parade will begin in the Rockdale Intermediate School parking lot. There will be multiple spots for people to cheer for this senior class. Also a part of the parade and a tradition that started last year, each senior will have a sign placed on Murray Street. Seniors will be able to pick up their sign after their graduation ceremony.
Finally, graduation will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Tiger Field p.m. May 28, and will once again be a more traditional graduation.
To finish out the evening, we will send the Senior Class of 2021 out with fireworks sponsored by Whinstone US.
We are excited to celebrate with the Class of 2021. For those who are not able to be there in person, the ceremony will be live streamed the same way the football games were.
