KCs hold annual fish fries on Fridays

The Rockdale Knights of Columbus will hold their annual Lenten fish fries on Fridays through April 14, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. or until sold out.

The plates include fried fish, homemade French fries and hush puppies, their famous KC coleslaw, pinto beans and all the trimmings.

Plates are $12 and they will be for drive through only at the KC Hall.

Alcoa Retirees to meet on March 10 at 5 p.m.

Rockdale Alcoa Retirees will hold a meeting on Thursday, March 10. The meeting will be held at the Thorndale Veteran’s Memorial Hall (formally known as the VFW Hall). Doors open at 5pm.

The business meeting begins at 5:45. There will be an election of officers at this meeting and meals will be $15.

Donations towards hall rental will be accepted. Desserts will be last name groups A-L.

Tanglewood VFD fundraiser March 12

The Tanglewood VFD will hold its annual fish fry on Sat., March 12 from 4 p.m. until sold out.

Plates will be available for $12 and include breaded and seasoned fish, French fries, hush puppies, homemade coleslaw, green beans and dessert.

Proceeds will help with fire equipment, gear and general operating expenses. The Tanglewood VFD is located at 1041 West CR 416 and the plates are for drive through only.

Tickets for fundraising items include a 65 inch Samsung TV, a pellet grill, a Dewalt atomic tool set, a $250 gift certificate to Academy and a Blackstone grill.

Senior Center seeking volunteers, donations

The Rockdale Senior Center is in need of volunteers on Mondays to deliver Meals on Wheels twice per month.

They are also asking for donations for their Angel Tree and seeking people to adopt a senior or buy items from their wish list.

AA meeting weekly at Crossroads Church

Rockdale Peace Seekers AA meetings are at Crossroads Bible Church, 811 Burleson St.

The meetings are scheduled on Tuesdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.

Homecoming set for Sunday, June 12

The Rockdale Homecoming Association has held their first meeting of the year to plan for the annual Citywide Homecoming to be held Sunday, June 12.

Narcotics Anonymous meets every Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church.

Heavenly Treasures half price day Feb. 22

Heavenly Treasures will have two special days in March, on the 8th and 22nd.

Adult clothing and shoes $1, children’s clothing 50¢, infant clothing 25¢.

The shop is open Tues, through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Donations accepted but no furniture can be dropped off.

Milam County Girl Scouts acts of service

Girl Scouts of Central Texas (GSCTX) are celebrating their centennial, the 100th anniversary of the first Girl Scout troop formed in our area in 1921.

“As part of our centennial celebration, Milam County Girl Scouts have chosen to perform service in Milam County. We are looking to do 100 acts of service in our county. We are providing services for free. It can be for a church, organization, city, individual or group,” said Rachel Owens, Milam County Girl Scouts Service Unit Director.
