The Texas Education Agency (TEA) uses various accountability measures for school districts, including College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) indicators, which aim to prepare students for post-secondary success. This article will explore what CCMR indicators are, why they are essential and how Rockdale ISD works tirelessly toward these goals.

What are CCMR indicators? CCMR indicators are a set of measures that assess a student's readiness for college, career or military service. These indicators include 1) Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) exam scores, 2) Dual credit enrollment and completion, including earning Associate’s Degrees, 3) Industry- based certifications, 4) College admissions tests (TSI, SAT, ACT), and 5) Military enlistment.

Why are CCMR indicators important? CCMR indicators are impor tant because they provide a comprehensive view of a student's readiness for post-secondary success. By measuring a student's performance in areas such as AP and IB exams, dual credit enrollment and industry certifications, schools can better prepare students for college and career success. Additionally, measuring military enlistment rates can help schools ensure that students are ready for service if they choose that path.

The Rockdale Class of 2023 has been exceptional in meeting CCMR indicators. While this graduating class will not count until the 2024 Accountability, the district is very proud of the work of the teachers and students that have prepared them for post-secondary success. This year’s class included four students who earned their Associate’s Degrees and five who enlisted in the military. Over 50 students earned an Industry-based Certification, and 17 earned college credit through dual enrollment or AP exams. The district expects the percentage of students meeting the CCMR requirement to be above 90%.

CCMR indicators are essential to TEA accountability measures for schools to focus on improving. Rockdale has expanded dual credit and indust r y-based cer t if ication opportunities, offered more options to prepare students for college admissions tests, and provided support for military enlistment to help our students over the past several years. We will continue to look for ways to assist students in this area.
