Take a look at coming Alamo exhibit hall

Get a sneak peek of the new Alamo Exhibit Hall and Collections Building in design renderings released by going to theAlamo.org. The images depict a coming addition to the Alamo complex with increased gallery space and ample room for interactive exhibits and learning opportunities.

This building will display the entire Phil Collins Collection, among other pieces from the Alamo Collection, in its 10,000 square feet of exhibit space – five times more than the Alamo has today. Opening on the Alamo grounds in 2022, the building will contain a state-of-the-art curatorial environment for the hundreds of historic items in the Alamo's possession.

"The location where the exhibit hall will be built is off the historic mission footprint, and none of the battle took place in this area of the complex," said Kristi Miller Nichols, Director of Archaeology, Collections, and Historical Research for the Alamo. "Improved security and environmental controls, along with a significant increase in storage space will help us preserve the hundreds of priceless artifacts in our care."

The Exhibit Hall is not a replacement for the upcoming Alamo Visitor Center and Museum, which is on track for a 2025 launch. The Phil Collins Collection will then be put on display in the museum and the Exhibit Hall will become home to additional traveling exhibits in order to further educate and engage visitors. A groundbreaking for the Exhibit Hall and Collections Building is scheduled for later this summer, with the grand opening set for summer 2022.
