Judge to address county

Milam County Judge Steve Young has reported five new cases of COVID-19 in the county, bringing the total to 78.

The judge will address the county in a Facebook video at 1 p.m. Thursday in which he is expected to impose new measures. Site is Moving Milam Forward.

"We now have 78 confirmed cases, 30 of which have occurred in the last 8 days, since June 16, 2020, 25 active cases, health department is monitoring 69 individuals and has monitored 245 individuals since March 20. One of the five cases reported today is in ICU and thus we now have 3 individuals in a hospital," he said.

"There is simply no end in site to the increase in confirmed cases. I will take some action that may help some, but this is truly a pandemic. I met with the superintendents Monday and I hate to think what may happen once school starts.  We must continue to get the word out through every medium about the importance of social distancing, masks and personal hygiene," he said.
