20 years later: Who killed Sonya?

Twenty years ago last Thursday the body of a 15-year-old Rockdale girl was found in a drainage ditch south of Taylor. Three weeks earlier, on Feb. 19, 1999, Sonya Wallace had walked the four blocks from her home to the Rockdale Post Office to mail a letter to a friend. She never came back.

50s flair

About 70 persons attended the 50s revival with Steve “Anton” Raby and the Star Chiefs Saturday in the Kay Theatre. “Everyone had a great time and the dance raised about $850 for the Kay Theatre Foundation,” Bob Burnett, foundation spokesman said.

TxDOT eyes Milam road projects

Milam County Judge Steve Young reports he recently met with Lance Simmons, Texas Dept. of Transportation (TxDOT) Bryan Office engineer for a heads up on road projects around the county. Most are in the northern part of Milam, but there are a few in the Rockdale area.

RFCU annual meeting Monday at KC Hall Rockdale Federal Credit Union’s annual meeting is set for Monday at the KC Hall. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with refreshment served between 4:30 and 5:30. The annual meeting will be held from 5:30 to approximately 6:30.

Three arrested for ‘THC oil’ on Friday

POLICE REPORT Rockdale police said three Williamson County residents were charged with possession of a controlled substance after their vehicle was stopped before dawn Friday. Lt. Stephen Goodrich said the arrest, by Ofc. Davin Stevens, occurred at 1:41 a.m.
