RJH Aaron Montelongo won the District Meet in Cameron. Montelongo’s time of 11:58 led the boys, team to a second-place finish.
“I’m so proud of the work he (Montelongo) puts in, and how much he wants to grow in the program,” RJH Head Coach Cheryl Meuth said. “He will fit in great with our high school boys next year if he keeps that mindset.”
The meet featured Caldwell, Lexington, Cameron, Academy and Florence. Both the girls and boys were required to run two miles for their races.
For the boys, Jesse Montelongo finished in fifth place with a time 12:35. Zeb Skrhak was 12th at 13:06 with Austin Cald well finishing in 13th at 13:07 and Daniel Castillo in 15th at 13:17. Alex Cooper finished in 16th a t 1 3 : 3 2 . Wyatt Smith placed 18th a t 1 3 : 3 8 . Pedro Tenorio was 22nd at 14:15 and Cesar Rodriguez was 23rd at 14:25. Slade Windham finished in 24th at 14:52. Jesus Limas placed 30th at 15:35 and Brody Willard placed 31st at 15:39. Aaron Montelongo, Jesse Montelongo, Skrhak, Caldwell and Castillo all medaled individually.
For the girls’ team, Izabella Delgadillo finished in 12th place with a time of 14:34. Lydia Boriak finished in 15th at 14:49, while Daniella Bocanegra was 17th at 14:56.
Yaretzi Hernandez placed 29th at 17:23. Emily Zientek finished in 30th at 17:24 and Jacie Hartley followed her in 31st at 17:50. T’niyah Miles finished in 43th at 19:31, while Brandilyn Musto came in 45th at 20:48.
Delgadillo, Bocanegra and Boriak received medals and new personal records.
