BRYAN – Quarterback Jace Robinson and running back Cam’ron Valdez made honorable mention on the Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 3A All-State Football Team.

Robinson, an all-district first team pick, threw for 2,459 yards and 52 touchdowns last season, which makes his third in the RHS season passing yard standings. The school record for passing yards is 3,086 held by Clayton Gibbs’s in 2013, and Torry Locklin is second with 2,560 yards in 2017. Robinson is also third in career passing yards with 4,113 just 503 yards shy of breaking Quarterback Coach Ethan Brinkley’s school record of 4,616 yards.

The District 10-3A Offensive Player of the Year, Valdez finished the season with 1,697 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns. He edged out Daniel Brooks by one yard for second place in the school’s season rushing yard standings. Locklin is in first with 2,491 rushing yards in 2017.

The juniors will be returning next season to the toughest district in Class 3A due to the bi-annual realignment. The Tigers moved into District 11-3A-1 with Cameron, Troy and Academy joining them from District 10-3A and McGregor coming from 9-3A. Caldwell and Lorena round out the district teams after dropping down from Class 4A.

Thorndale—Bulldog center Corbin Preusse received an honorable mention nod on offense in the Class 2A All-State Team.
