THOR N DA L E—The Thorndale Bulldogs hosted the Armadillos from San Saba last Friday night. While it was a close game, Thorndale came up short 36-28.

San Saba shut Thorndale out of the first half and were up at half time 21-0.

The Bulldogs, however, are winners by nature and have a championship culture that fights and they came back and scored 28 points in the second half, while their defense held the Armadillos to only 15 points. It was good but not good enough to win the game.

Again, all of Thorndale’s points would come in the second half.

Running back Noah Crabtree would hit paydirt from 16 yards out, the two-point conversion failed making it a 21-6 game.

Later in the third quarter, wide receiver Ethan Schramm would score on a 54-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Gunner Ferguson. Kade Becker’s kick was good and the score going into the fourth after San Saba scored again was Armadillos 27, Bulldogs 13.

QB Ferguson would find Schramm again from 14 yards out. Becker’s kick would be good and it was San Saba 27, Thorndale 20.

The Bulldogs’ defense let the Armadillos score two more times before Ferguson would hit Schramm for a third and final time from 29 yards out. Ferguson also scored on a two point conversion but time ran out for Thorndale and the final score was San Saba 36, Thorndale 28.

The Bulldogs are a surprising 0-2 in district and 4-3 overall.
