AXTELL—Milano traveled to Axtell for the opening of their season and it was no doubt a long bus ride home. The Eagles lost to the Longhorns 52-0.
According to former Rockdale Tiger and current Head Eagle Football Coach Nick Morehead, “We need to do a better job on special teams, this game got away from us early because of a punt return for a touchdown, two bad snaps on a punt that resulted in a safety and a short field for the defense and a kick return for a touchdown.”
Coach Morehead noted, “We are going to put a major emphasis on this special team problem this week.”
STANDOUT— Key player in the game for the Eagles were Gerald Dykes at linebacker. Dykes had a sack, 11 tackles, three for a loss.
THIS WEEK— Milano will play at home this week against Bosqueville at 7:30 p.m. The Bulldogs are 1-0 after defeating Bartlett 21-12 last week.
