Last week, the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association announced that Thorndale baseball players Bryson Beran and Logan Davis were all-state selections.

Beran, who concluded the year with 38 hits, 23 runs batted in and a batting average of .404, was pegged for the top team as a first baseman.

Davis, who made the third team for his efforts at third base, ended his 2021 season as District 27-2A’s Offensive most valuable player and was an academic all-district pick. In addition to his performance at the plate and from the hot corner, the THS junior also struck out 96 batters in 65 innings pitched and had an earned run average of 1.80.

LADY DOGS—THS softball players Kelsey Kovar, Emilee Baker and Raeghan Carlson were selected for the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s All-State team.

Baker and Kovar were also picked for the TGCA All-Star game on July 13, at Arlington’s Workman Softball Complex. The pair were two of six Class 2A softball players in Texas to be asked to play.

Carlson, who wasn’t eligible for the game due to being a sophomore, finished 2021 with 17 home runs and a batting average of .511. She was also a first team all-district selection and was the District 27-2A Co-Defensive most valuable player.

The three had a combined 38 doubles, 16 triples, 29 home runs in 32 games.
