Betak wins All-Centex Coach of the Year honors

Thorndale High School softball coach Lance Betak has been named All-Star Preps All-Centex Softball Coach of the Year. Betak led the Lady Bulldogs to the UIL Class 2A state championship game last month in a hard-fought battle with top-ranked Crawford. The Lady Pirates outlasted THS winning 8-7 in extra innings but the lead changed four times throughout the game. Up until the state championship game, the Lady Bulldogs went undefeated in the playoffs and run-ruled their opponents in eight of their 12 total postseason games. The Lady Bulldogs went 34-5 this season and were undefeated in District 27-2A for the second straight year. In his 11 seasons as Thorndale softball coach he has a record of 197-95-2.
