As of Tuesday, Rockdale Junior High student-athlete Jesus Bocanegra is the fifth fastest eighth grader in the state of Texas.
Bocanegra’s time of 11:16.2 at the McGregor ISD Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 14, was good enough to get him amongst the top middle school distance runners in Texas.
Three of the runners that have times faster than him go to middle schools that feed into Class 6A high schools and the other runner attends Liberty Hill Middle School.
“When I texted him that he was one of the top runners in the state, he responded that I’m going to work for that number one spot and I’m going to get it.” said RJH coach Cheryl Meuth.
The RJH student has won all but one of his meets this season and will have a chance to win a first place medal again on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the District 19-3A meet in McGregor.
HIGH SCHOOL– Both Rockdale High School cross country teams will compete in the District 19-3A cross country meet on Monday in Cameron.
MILANO– MJH student Kadence Koenig won the Jarrell Invitational on Saturday.
Both Milano and Thorn-dale cross country teams will compete in the District 25-2A meet in Thrall on Monday.
Junior High teams will also compete in Thrall but on Wednesday.
