On Saturday morning, Rockdale High School cross country teams traveled across the Williamson County line to compete at Thrall where RHS sophomore Jesus Bocanegra won the varsity boys’ race with a time of 17:46.23.
Teammates Cristo Hernandez and Yovanney Delgadillo rounded out the top 10 finishers with times of 18:57.61 and 19:28.41.
Other members of the Tiger cross country team that contributed to their third place finish were: 43. A.J. Hicks, 21:29.18; 47. Chris Miles, 21:37.65; 60. Seth Davis, 23:21.65; 60. Daniel Castillo, 23:22.02.
The only teams to beat the Tigers were champion Lago Vista and runner-up Cornerstone Christian of San Antonio.
LADY TIGERS—For the girls’ team, Ciara Miles was the top finisher with a time of 14:18.12.
Other Lady Tiger runners were: 25. Ivanna Luna Hernandez, 15:02.4; 40. Logan Smallwood, 15:41.78; 49. Alize Llanas, 16:30.88; 59. Katia Hernandez, 16:58.62; 67. Tatiana Olivares, 18:07.27.
Both Rockdale teams compete next at the Lake Bryan Invitational on Saturday.
THORNDALE—T he Bulldog and Lady Dog cross country teams also crossed the county line to compete in Thrall. Results for the boys were: 29. Rowdy Casner, 20:42.52; 42. Ty Pesl, 21:25.90; 58. Blake Roberts, 23:19.91; 72. Braden Pickel, 24:19.83; 78. Raymond Avalos, 25:01.08; 80. Hobbs Gray, 25:30.75; 82. Everton White, 25:44.75; 89. Bryce Dickerson, 32:05.27.
Competing for the Lady Dogs were: 42. Abby Dickerson, 15:47.44; 50. Madison Masek, 16:38.91; 53. Bailee Baker, 16:46.92; 61. Makaelyn Vivas, 17:01.72; 62. Fisher Hannah, 17:04.97; 70. Juliette Demaio, 18:28.25.
Thorndale runners continue their season Saturday at the Salado Eagle Invitational.
MILANO—MHS was also at the Thrall meet. Although the school didn’t have any competitors running in the varsity race, sophomore Kadance Koenig won the girls junior varsity race with a time of 14:31.52, beating the race’s runner-up by 29 seconds.
MHS teams don’t have a meet scheduled this week, but will compete again Sept. 11 at the Brenham Hillacious Invitational.
