The Bulldogs spoiled the opening of the new Snook Stadium as they beat the Bluejays 6-0. The Bulldogs are now 2-0 on the season.

“I’m very proud of the way we continued to fight,” THS Head Coach John Kovar said. “We have a lot we can improve on, but our guys found a way to win.”

In the first quarter, The Bluejays punted from their own end zone but it was blocked and Thorndale’s Brenton Wilhite recovered it for the touchdown to go up 6-0. That special team’s touchdown would be the only score of the game.

The Bluejays stopped a Bulldog drive inside of the 10-yard line at the end of the first half. Snook had the ball with under two minutes to go in the game. The Jays turned it over but their defense held off Thorndale again and got the ball back with less than 40 seconds to go. But Snook threw another interception and Thorndale held off the Bluejays 6-0.

Quarterback Coy Stutts went 8 of 24 for 86 passing yards. Cain Brymer led the team in rushing yards with 19 while Cayden Nicholas led in receiving with 25 yards.

The Bulldogs are now ranked 10th in the texasfootball.com 2A Division I rankings. They will look to continue their win streak as they travel to Centerville on Friday to face the 1-1 Tigers.
