The Thorndale Bulldogs claimed an area championship last week by defeating Burton in two games. Both were shutouts with Thorndale winning game one 4-0 and game two 2-0.
Players of the game in the first game were Jayden Clawson, Jaxson Eschberger and Kaden Kovar.
Clawson hit a single, had a sacrifice bunt, stole a base and scored a run. Eschberger was the winning pitcher, throwing for seven innings, giving up only three hits, no runs and had 11 strikeouts. Kovar contributed three singles, scored a run and had an RBI.
In game two, player of the game was winning pitcher Gunner Ferguson, who pitched seven innings, gave up three hits, had zero runs scored, had four strikeouts, hit a single and scored a run for the Bulldogs.
COMING UP— Thorndale will now face Iola in the regional quarterfinals. The best-of-three series will be played in Mumford starting with game one at 7 p.m. Friday, game two at 1 p.m. Saturday and game three, if necessary, will start 30 minutes after game two.
