Thorndale improved to 7-1 on Friday evening after turning an early advantage into a 44-30 road win over Holland on Friday.
The Bulldogs led 12-6 at the end of the first and shot their lead up to 31-13 at halftime with another hot second quarter.
This is the ninth time this season THS has outscored their opponent by more than 10 points in the second quarter.
Without Kolby Neumeyer, who led Thorndale this season in scoring with 18.4 points per game, Garrett Bernstein and Chance Betak took control scoring 10 apiece.
Ty Kovar had eight, Dean Johnson had five and Stryker Leschber and Branson McCoy had four. Jagger Rubio scored three.
THIS WEEK–The Bulldogs faced Granger on Tuesday after press time and travel to Mumford on Friday.
The two schools battled in a close one at the THS Gymnasium Tuesday, Jan. 14, where the Bulldogs beat the Mustangs 43-42.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
TABC–As of Monday, Thorndale still holds their status as the ninth-ranked team in Class 2A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
With a 7-1 record in district, their only loss comes from fourth-ranked Hearne, who beat them 66-48 on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
LADY BULLDOGS– The Lady Bulldogs also defeated Holland, taking down the Lady Hornets 61-31 earlier Friday.
Kyndal Robinson scored a season-high of 20 points with Makayla Lafferty scoring 15 and Savanna Taylor ending the night with 12.
THIS WEEK–Like the boys, they faced Granger on Tuesday after press time and take on Mumford this Friday.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the Lady Bulldogs are 8-1 and wrap up district play on Tuesday when they host Milano.
Thorndale holds first place, with a one game lead over Hearne.
Although the Lady Eagles created a tie for first when they defeated THS 49-39 on Tuesday, Jan. 21, they fell to Thrall 48-43 three days after that to put them back in second with a 7-2 record.
If Thorndale wins out, this will be their third consecutive district title.
Tip-off is at 6:15 p.m.
