Thorndale’s football team struggled Friday evening with Centerville’s ground game, which was fueled Halston French, who scored all six of the Tigers touchdowns in a game at Bulldog Stadium that ended 42-28.

THS stopped Centerville on their first drive of the game, but the Tigers scored their next two series to make it 14-0.

The Maroon-and-Gold answered back in the final minute of the quarter on a 65-yard touchdown pass from Coy Stutts to Clason Beasley. Colton Merryman’s successful extra point made it 14-7 at the close of the first quarter.

Although the Leon County squad added to their lead on a goal line push by French half way through the second, Thorndale got back within six points when Stutts found junior Luke Merz open for a 26-yard pass to make it 20-14 at halftime.

However, Centerville came out firing immediately in the second as French broke away for a 29-yard TD run a little over two minutes into the second half and scored again on the next Tiger drive on another goal line run to make the score 35-14.

Thorndale scored three plays after Centerville’s fifth touchdown on a 67-yard pass from Stutts to Beasley but French answered back less than a minute later on a 33-yard run to make the game 42-21. Thorndale’s Raymond Avalos scored the games final touchdown in fourth on a 13-yard run, but it wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs fell 42-28.

Top performers for THS were Stutts, who was 8 for 17 with 242 yards and three touchdowns. Beasley finished the night with 153 yards on four catches and two touchdowns.

MILANO–The Bulldogs hit the road for the first time this season Friday, but get to stay within Milam County since they face Milano.

The two teams will be meeting for the 24th time since 1932.
