The Thorndale Bulldogs are still doing this thing called baseball playoffs. They swept Iola last week in the regional quarterfinals, winning 4-1 and 3-2.
GAME ONE— Players of the game in game one were Gunner Ferguson, who had a triple, a walk, scored twice and had an RBI; Kaden Kovar had a single, was hit by a pitch twice, had an RBI and two stolen bases; Jaxson Eschberger, the winning pitcher, threw six innings giving up three hits and no runs with nine strikeouts; and Nathan Grimm, who had a double.
GAME TWO— Players of the game in game two were Gunner Ferguson, the winning pitcher, gave the Bulldogs seven innings, giving up four hits and no earned runs, struck out six, hit a single at the plate and scored once; Jaxson Eschberger, who had a two-run double, an RBI single and a stolen base; Jayden Clawson, two singles, an RBI and two stolen bases; and Rowdy Casner had two singles and scored twice.
COMING UP— This two-game win against Iola advances Thorndale to the regional semifinals against Ganado.
The Ganado Indians finished second place in their district with a 9-3 record, 24-6 overall.
This will be another bestof- three series. Game one will be played in Hallettsville at 7 p.m. Wednesday, game two will be played in Bastrop at 7 p.m. Thursday, and, if necessary, game three will be played at a time and place to be determined.
