The Thorndale Bulldogs remain undefeated in district 25-2A with an 84-41 win over Granger on Friday.
“We played okay against Granger,” said John Kovar, THS boy’s head basketball coach. “They hit some shots against us in the first half, but we kept the pressure up and we eventually wore them down.”
The Bulldogs were up 44-26 at halftime, but outscored the Lions 40-15 in the second half. Thorndale got their third district win over the 0-3 Lions.
Sam Reaves had a season-high 37 points and Evan Ivy also had a season-high of
18. Kolby Neumeyer had 10 and Michael Herzog had seven.
Thorndale went 2-2 in the Tenaha Tournament over the Christmas break with wins over Elysian Fields 73-35 and Neches 62-59, ranked 6th in class 1A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Thorndale lost 53-48 to Cushing, ranked 16th in class 2A, and Tenaha 54-39, ranked 10th. Thorn-dale is ranked 19th .
“Tenaha is a great small school tournament,” Kovar said. “There were a lot of great teams there, and we played pretty well.”
The Bulldogs played in Mumford on Tuesday and play at home against Milano 7:15 p.m., Friday.
