In a span of 12 minutes, Thorndale managed to score 34 unanswered points during the opening quarter of their first district contest on Friday night in Moody, where they shutout the Bearcats 55-0.

Within the first minute, Jayden Clawson scored on a 19-yard TD run. Two minutes later, Aiden McRae scored his second touchdown of the year with a goal line run.

Clawson scored his second touchdown in five minutes when he broke away for a 45-yard touchdown.

For the remainder of the quarter, the Bulldogs only scored on passes.

THS quarterback Coy Stutts first found Clason Beasley open for a 44-yard pass and in the final minute of the first, Stutts and senior Branson McCoy connected for a 39-yard touchdown.

Thorndale scored twice more in the half with Beasley and Stutts reuniting for a 31 yard TD pass and A.J. Hernandez scoring his first points of the game on a one-yard run. McRae scored Thorndale’s final touchdown in the third on a goal line run.

McRae led the Bulldogs in rushing with 113 yards on 12 carries while Stutts was 6 of 8 for 143 yards. Sophomore Kaden Kovar also saw some time behind the center throwing 2 for 2 with 16 yards.

T H I S WEEK—After playing five games in which they have outscored opponents 204-28, the 4-1 Bulldogs will be tested when perennial power Holland comes to Bulldog Stadium on Friday.

Although they only have two returning starters on offense and six on defense, the Hornets are 3-2 and took down district favorite Hearne 10-2 last Friday and have multiple reputable players on defense including J.C. Chaney, who finished 2020 with 90 tackles and leads as a fullback on the other side of the ball.

Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
