The Milano Lady Eagles volleyball team played in the Anderson-Shiro Tournament on Thursday, Aug. 23, and Saturday, Aug. 25 and hosted the Bremond Lady Tigers at the Geneva Paceley Gym in Milano on Friday evening.
The Lady Eagles lost two of their three matches on Thursday. The first match was a loss to the Iola Lady Bulldogs, 8-25, 10-25. Milano bounced back to beat 3A Franklin 25-21, 17-25, 25-18. The Lady Eagles ended the day with a loss to the Snook Lady Jays 14-25, 19-25.
On their day off from tournament play, Milano won a five-game tiebreaker against Bremond, 25-19, 19-25, 25-17, 12-25, 15-10.
The next morning, the Lady Eagles resumed play in the Anderson-Shiro Tournament with a close loss to North Zulch 24-26, 23-25. The Lady Eagles finished the day with a victory against Legacy, 25-20, 25-14. This was the Lady Eagles final tournament of the 2018 season.
Prior to the weekend tournament, Milano defeated the Bruceville-Eddy Lady Eagles at home, in three sets 25-20, 28-26, 25-11.
The Lady Eagles will have the rest of the week off before starting district play, when they host the Holland Hornets on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Junior varsity will begin play at 5 p.m., and the varsity will start immediately after.
