Milam County football in 2019 came to an end late Friday afternoon when the Cameron Yoemen fell to 2018 state champion Grandview 45-14 in the Region III semi-final game at Waco ISD Stadium.

The Yoe were in the game much of the time, trailing by only 10 later in the third quarter but Grandview outscored YHS 28-7 for the remainder of the game to move on the regional final game.

“I felt like if we would’ve played a good clean game and executed consistently, I think we could have had a lot closer game,” Yoe head coach Tommy Brashear told The Waco Tribune after the game. “I felt like we could move the ball, but had too many mistakes and too many turnovers.”

The Yoemen end their 2019 season with an 11-2 record.

TROY–Later that day, Troy defeated District 9-3A-I champion Whitney 9-7 at Midway ISD Stadium in Hewitt.

The Trojans trailed 7-0 at halftime due in large part to three interceptions.

They came back out ready to go in the second half, tying the game at seven three minutes into the third.

On the next play, Whitney’s safety let off a wild snap. WHS running back Juan Saucedo was able to get the back but not before Troy’s Beau Workman pushed him into the end zone for the safety.

THS held on for the remainder of the game, winning 9-7.

REGIONAL FINAL–

Troy will face the Zebras on Friday, at Waco ISD Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

The winner will play in the Class 3A-I state semi-final game the following week.
