On Monday morning, it was announced that Rockdale High School head football coach Jacob Campsey is stepping down from his position. RISD Superintendent Denise Monzingo said that Campsey didn’t resign, but has stepped away from the role he has had the last three seasons.
He went 14-16 the last three years with two playoff appearances and has been with Rockdale since coming over from Thrall in 2014. The Devine native was the defensive coordinator on the 2017 state championship team.
Due to this information becoming public near this week’s deadline, we will have more information on this story in a future edition.
Supt. Monzingo also said the district plans to post the job opening for football coach and athletic director online within the next couple of weeks.
