Rockdale sophomore Yolianna Castillo won the Cameron tennis tournament Friday while teammate Beth Montelongo placed fourth amongst competitors from Rockdale, Yoe High, Rogers and Thrall.
The day prior, RHS had seven student athletes medal in the junior varsity tourney with sophomore Grace Avrin winning a gold in the girls singles and her classmates Chris Perez and Christopher Miles winning the boys doubles title.
Tori Dearduff placed second in the girls singles after losing in a close match with Avrin and Alex Rivera placed third in boys singles.
Nyah Limon and Clarissa Herrera placed third in the girls doubles.
This was the third tournament of the season for both Rockdale tennis teams in a season where two of their tournaments have been canceled due to weather including the Rockdale tourney.
Head coach Kristy Kaufmann said that there are plans to reschedule the event for early April with Salado and Thrall as the slated competition. Kaufmann also said that if one of the schools drops out, it will still be good for her players to see other teams.
Their next tournament is scheduled for March 25 in Franklin.
