The Lions met the Panthers at Tiger Stadium on Friday. The Burton Panthers defeated the Granger Lions 47-7 in their Region 3A semi-final game. This was the second playoff game Rockdale hosted at the new field. “We sent out an e-mail to all of the area schools letting them know we were willing to host a playoff game,” said Jeff Miller, RHS head football coach and athletic director. “A couple of schools contacted us, and our district’s had the chance to host the last couple of weeks.” Rockdale Independent School District charges a rental fee ranging from $2,500-3,000. “In terms of how much the school makes, it usually depends on how many people show up,” Miller said. “We charge a rate comparable to other districts, and then we pay workers around the stadium. It also depends on how much security we need.”
