Milano fell to 0-3 for the season on Friday night to another top-ranked team after falling victim to undefeated Bremond and their dual-threat offense that had 217 passing yards and 228 yards on the ground.

The Tigers were quiet for much of the first, not scoring until quarterback Seth Kasowski scored on a nine-yard run. Casey Garrett made the point-after-touchdown (PAT) to put the Falls County squad up 7-0.

The Eagles came within four points later in the quarter when kicker Marcos Ruelas made a season-high 37-yard field goal to make the game 6-3.

Bremond got a 10-point lead when J.T. Anthony ran in a 14-yard touchdown early in the second. They missed the kick, but the Tigers led 13-3 with 8:11 left in the half.

Milano scored four minutes later when Ruelas made a 17-yard kick to put his team within seven of Bremond with 4:11 to play.

Bremond gained momentum towards the end of the half with two more touchdowns. Garrett scored on a 39-yard pass from Kasowski and Anthony scored again on a two-yard run. BHS. With both conversions successful, the Tigers led 29-6 at halftime.

Bremond held on to win the game 44-6 with a score in the third and another in the final quarter.

Danny Cloud led the Eagles in the backfield with 95 yards on eight carries and Marquise Jones was Milano’s top receiver with 38 yards on five catches. Quarterback Noah Benavides was seven of 18 for 53 yards.

IOLA–Milano hosts Iola on Friday at 7:30 p.m. for their homecoming game.

The Bulldogs are 2-1 under new coach Kerry Bamburg with wins over Normangee 32-29 and Somerville 20-12, and a 26-0 loss to Class 3A Anderson-Shiro.

In addition to a new coach, the Bulldogs also have many new faces with only 11 of 22 starters returning from 2018’s bi-district finalist team.

They are led by Adam Crenshaw who had 279 receiving yards and 48 tackles last season. IHS also has Zach Hollingsworth is wideout and safety who missed most of last season to an ACL injury.
