Milano came up short in the second half to a highly-touted Burton team in a 28-7 loss on the road Friday night.
“ We didn’t capitalize on opportunities later in the game,” said Chad Lagrone, MHS head football coach. “ But we did well early on.”
BHS took an early lead on a 34-yard touchdown run by Tremane Daniels less than five minutes into the jame. Hector Cabrales made the point-after-touchdown(PAT).
Although the Eagles were stopped on their next series, cornerback Ethan Gordon scored near the end of the first zith an ;0-|ard interception return. Marcos Uuelas tied the jame at seven with a made PAT. With a scoreless second quarter on both ends, the game was tied at halftime.
Burton took back the lead early in the third when an MHS punt landed in the hands of Callahan who returned the ball for a 45-yard touchdown. Cabrales made the kick to make the score 14-7.
The remainder of the tuarter zas a defensive battle with Milano’s Ethen Knight picking up a fumele on EurtonÎs ne{t drive and Burton’s Rodney Wilson interceptinj a Qoah Eenavidez pass after that.
Six seconds into the fourth, BHS ended a 12-play possession with another Callahan touchdown, this time for one-yard. Cabrales made the PAT to make the game 21-7.
Milano turned the ball over on dozns their ne{t possession jivin the eall to the Santhers at the 50-|ard line. One play later, Callahan scored a third time on a 48-yard run. The score was 28-7 after a made PAT by Cabrales. Burton held on for the final seven minutes to win the game.
Eenavide led PK in rushing 64 yards on 13 carries.
