Milano High School’s football team powered their way to their first win of the season Friday night when they defeated Huntsville’s Alpha Omega Academy 13-3.
Alpha Omega beat the Eagles to the scoreboard, with a field goal in the first quarter to make it 3-0.
However, MHS took the lead in the second with an Andres Ruelas touchdown. An Ethan Gordon touchdown in the third was enough to give Milano the victory 13-3.
In addition to scoring both of their team’s touchdowns, Ruelas and Gordon had a hot night on the ground, with Ruelas rushing for 152 yards on 18 carries and Gordon totaling 133 rushing yards on 19 carries. Together, the two accounted for all but 19 of the team’s 304 yards.
BREMOND— T h i s week, the Eagles will be tasked with taking on Bremond, one of Class 2A’s most successful programs that won three straight state championships from 2014-2016 that is coming off a second round exit in the 2020 playoffs.
Things haven’t started off great for the Tigers, with two losses in their first two games of the 2021 season.
In week one, the Tigers fell to Normangee, the 10th-ranked team in Class 2A-I, 49-13 and are coming off a 36-28 loss to Class 2A Axtell.
BHS is led by the duo of quarterback David Williams and running back JaRay Bledsoe but has conerns in regards to depth this season at wide receiver and in their secondary.
Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
