Like most high school football teams in the state of Texas, the Milano Eagles will suit up on Friday for their first scrimmage of the season at Pruitt Field, where they will host Itasca, who will make a 220-mile round trip to Milam County to practice with the maroonand- gold.

Scrimmaging starts for the junior varsity at 5 p.m., with the varsity beginning right after.

MHS has one more scrimmage at Thrall on Thursday, Aug. 18.

OPENER—Milano opens their season on Friday, Aug. 26, in Waco, where they will face Reicher Catholic School.

Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Milano is picked to make the playoffs in District 13-2AII byDave Campbell’s Texas Footballmagazine, with a fourth place finish behind fellow district competitors Chilton, Bremond and Granger.

THORNDALE—The Bulldogs also stay at home on Friday, where they willhost Jewett-Leon for their season-opening scrimmage.

Play begins at 6 p.m. for the junior varsity and the varsity will start scrimmaging following the end of the JV scrimmage. THS has one more practice game on Thursday, Aug. 18, when they head to Chilton to practice withTexas Football’sninth-ranked team in Class 2A-II. The Bulldogs open their season on Aug. 26, when they host Class 3A-II Lexington. Game time between the two schools is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thorndale is picked byTexas Footballto finish second in District 13-2A-I, only behind Hearne. The two schools battled for the district championship last season and also share a district with Holland, Flatonia, Schuleburg, Thrall and Weimar.

Thorndale and Hearne face each other in their regular season finale on Friday, Nov.4.
