ITASCA—The Milano Eagles traveled to Itasca to face the Wampus Cats in a scrimmage on Friday night. They outscored their opponent 5-1.
Coach Nick Morehead bragged on his Eagle squad saying, “We saw a lot of good things, of course there are always things to improve on. We were good up front, blocking was good but we fumbled the ball three times.”
“Our offensive line is the most experienced part of the team but we are really impressed with the play of junior quarterback Braden Steinbecker,” he added.
The Eagles scored three times on their first drive during the scrimmage. Standouts were running back Andreas Rueles, quarterback Steinbecker, Greg Storey and Jason Avalos. The Eagles squad lost nine seniors last year but are seeing leadership from a juniorheavy team.
The Eagles will scrimmage against the Thrall Tigers this Friday in Milano.
