The Milano Eagles had a big win at home against the Central Texas Christian Lions out of Temple on Friday night. The final s core w as M ilano 2 7, C entral Texas Christian 7. The Eagles are now 2-0 for the season.

The Eagles scored first as junior running back Andres Ruelas rushed eight yards for the first of his two touchdowns for the night. Ruelas kicked the extra point, making the score Eagles 7, Lions 0.

The Central Texas Christian Lions came back with their own 53-yard run for a touchdown. After making the extra point, the game was tied, Eagles 7, Lions 7.

Still in the first quarter, senior running back Jason Avalos broke loose and scored on a 60-yard kickoff return. Ruelas was good on the extra point, as Milano took the lead, 14-7.

In the second quarter, junior running back Abram Castaneda ran 48 yards for a rushing touchdown. The kick was good, creating a score of Eagles 21, Lions 7.

Eagle running back Ruelas then found the end zone for his second touchdown. This 26-yard run finished the scoring for the night. The extra point try was no good and the final score was Eagles 27, Lions 7.

STANDOUTS— The standouts for this Eagles offensive squad were junior running back and kicker Andres Ruelas, junior offensive lineman William Mears and junior offensive lineman Tyler Collier.

Standout Eagles on the defensive side of the ball were freshman linebacker Dylan McGee, who had 10 tackles in just the second half of the game. Junior lineman Gerald Dykes had two sacks in the game.

COMING UP— These winning Milano Eagles play on the road this week against a “hard playing, physical” Meridian team, according to Head Football Coach Nick Morehead. Kick off is at 7 p.m. Friday.
