HOUSTON—The undefeated Milano Eagles met their match Friday night on the road against power house private school Cypress Christian. The Eagles fell hard to the Warriors with a final score of Cypress Christian 42, Milano 20.

The Eagles scored first in this match up. Milano’s senior running back Andres Ruelas ran one yard into the end zone and then Ruelas made the kick on the extra point to put the Eagles up 7-0.

It wa s all Cypress Christian for the rest of the first quart e r. T h e score going into the second quarter was Cypress Christian 28, Milano 7.

The Eagles made two field goals in the second and third quarter. Eagle kicker Ruelas made one from 17 yards and one from 21 yards making the score Cypress Christian 28, Milano 13.

The Warriors added to their score with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, one on the ground and one in the air. Both of their extra-point kicks were good and this resulted in a score of Cypress Christian 42, Milano 13.

Milano scored in the fourth quarter on another Ruelas touchdown. He ran the ball 10 yards, then made the extra point and the final score of this game was,Cypress Christian Warriors 42, Milano Eagles 20.

Eagle Head Football Coach Nick Moorehead liked the way his team played despite the loss, “We were playing a pretty good football team with a large enrollment. We came out a little differently after the half and we were in this game.” Coach Moore head adde d, “We need a good game Friday night, we still are not showing our full potential. We are playing another good team with a quarterback that can throw the ball, our defense is going to have to cover well.”

STANDOUTS— Junior Eagle running back Ruelas had another great game and junior Taylor Wall, who played both at corner and safety Friday night, led the team in tackles and had an interception.

NEXT UP— The Eagles have one more non-district game. This one will be played at home against the 2-3 private school Geneva Eagles out of Boerne. Kick off is 7 p.m.
