The Milano Eagle baseball team defeated Bartlett 10-3 at home Monday evening to close out their series with the Bulldogs.

The Eagles got things going in the bottom of the first when BHS pitcher Roy Degollado walked runners in to give MHS a 2-0 lead. Bartlett tied the game in the top of the third and Milano answered back in the bottom of the inning when Tucker Taylor doubled on a 3-2 pitch to put the Eagles up one run.

Milano got away for good in the fourth with a seven-run rally led by hits from Taylor, Kathen Funburg, Ethen Knight and Danny Cloud. The Bulldogs scored once more in the sixth but the Eagles held on to get their second District 27-2A win.

Taylor led Milano from the mound with seven strikeouts and three hits allowed in 4.1 innings. At the plate, Taylor had two hits and five runs batted in.

Knight and Funburg also had two hits for MHS and Bryson Richards, Weston Avrett, Alec Hernandez and Cloud each had one.

On Saturday, the Eagles also defeated the Bulldogs 21-2 in a game that lasted six innings.

The boys got off to a much faster start than Monday’s game with seven runs in the first inning led by a three-run single by Taylor followed by walked runners and a single by Richards.

Milano held their lead with two more in the second and one each in the third and the fourth. The Eagles led 11-2 in the sixth, needing two runs to 10-run rule the Bulldogs and scored 10 with runs batted in by Cloud, Taylor, Avrett, Knight and Funburg winning the game 21-2.

Taylor gave up one hit in three innings and struck out five. Richards led MHS at the plate going five-for-five with three RBI’s.

The Eagles are 2-6 in district and open their series on the road with Granger on Friday at 5 p.m.
