Rockdale’s eighth grade “A” team ended their season undefeated with a 14-8 win over Academy on a cold Thursday evening at Tiger Stadium.
The Tigers were able to hold Academy on their final drive when the Bumblebees had a first-and-10 from the RJH 12, stopping them four plays in a row.
Rockdale scored on a 10-yard pass from Blaydn Barcak to Gerren Carter Jr. in the second and on a 10-yard run by Wyatt Windham in the third.
RJH’s defense was dilligent throughout the contest, with Cruz San Migel causing a fumble recovered by Barcak in the first. Sterling Prazak also caused a loose ball in the second that was picked up by Coylton Malkey.
According to Coach Eric Willard, offensive standouts were Noah Pastrano, Isaiah Sauls and Windham. Defensive standouts were Carson Eoff, Dominique Clark and San Migel.
7A–Thanks to three touchdowns by Timothy Grice, the seventh grade “A” team got their second win of the season with a 20-6 win over Academy.
Grice scored on a 50 and 70-yard run in the first and a 97-yard kickoff run in the third.
He also made a 60-yard run that was stopped short at the one-yard line on the final play of the game.
Offensive standouts were Avery Pizana, Zakobe Anderson and Grice. Standouts on defense were A.J. Sandoval, Francisco Reyes and Bradon Ellis.
8/7B–The combined fell 18-7 to Academy ending their season with a 4-4 record.
RJH scored after Francisco Vasquez stripped the ball which led to a five-yard TD run by Tyler Thomas.
Offensive standouts were Thomas and Kaden Land. Defensive standouts were Evan Miller, Jeremiah Cain and Vasquez.
JV1–Rockdale’s JV1 ended district play with a 3-1 record after shutting out Academy 28-0 on the road Thursday night.
Rockdale scored once in the first on a 12-yard run by Robert Owens in the first.
In the second, they scored on two short runs by Scott Penny and 35-yard catch by Amarion Butler. Butler caught two receptions for 30 and also made an interception in the quarter.
In the fourth, Nathan Thomas scored on an eight-yard run.
Offensive standouts were Owens, Butler, Penny, Creek Windham and the entire offensive line. Defensive standouts were Penny, Thomas, Lane Rickman, Cade Pantaleon and Za’Kori Yanes.
