Twenty-four members of the 2018 Rockdale Tiger football team were selected to 38 different spots on the 10-3A Division I all-district teams.
This included 11 players picked to the first team, six to the second team, seven honorable mentions and 13 members selected to the academic all-district team.
Sophomore Cam’Ron Valdez was also chosen as the Offensive Newcomer of the Year. Valdez rushed for 1,166 yards on 171 carries this past season.
First team all-district members from Rockdale were lineman Carson Offield, wide receivers Ross Loth and Kesean Raven, running back Valdez, and quarterback Jace Robinson on offense.
Defensive back’s Will Storey and Levi Baggerly, defensive linemen Cayden McBride and Josh Davenport and linebacker Jackson Perry. Kicker Luis Iruegas was selected as a member of the special teams.
Offensive linemen Robert Barrera and Ty Mayberry and wide receiver Quentin Hughes were picked to the all-district second team offense.
Defensive back Nate Newlin and linebacker Preston Debault were selected to the second team on defense. Raven was named as the all-district second team return specialist.
Honorable mentions included offensive linemen Cole Rickman and tight end Keylan Hairston on offense. Linebacker Brandon Hernandez, defensive back Kobe Mitchell, and defensive linemen Leo Millan and Wyatt Pounders were given honorable mention accolades for their defensive play.
Loth also received his second selection as a punter.
Academic all-district selections were Baggerly, Davenport, Hairston, Doss Hasselbach, Hernandez, Ethan Hughes, Quentin Hughes, Loth, Ty Mayberry, Kobe Mitchell, Offield, Pounders, and Robinson.
The Texas High School Coaches Association announced the 2018 Academic All-State Football Team. The Rockdale Tigers had two named to the team: Doss Hasselbach, first team and Josh Davenport, second team.
RHS volleyball players selected were Reyna Gonzalez, first team and Kaylee Criswell and Ryanne Young honorable mention.
