SEGUIN—Thorndale native Riley Schaeffer has been named to the NCAA’s Elite 90 Academic Recognition Award Program, recognizing college baseball’s top student athletes from each conference. Schaeffer is a senior outfielder for Texas Lutheran University
In addition to being the nation’s Division III hits leader, he is earning a master of accountancy degree.
This year he posted a 4.0 GPA
His achievements include:
• Straight A’s for his entire college academic career.
• Ongoing preparation for the Certified Public Accountant exam.
• Four-year starter and 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-American
• He was the 2014 Thorndale High School valedictorian, the Bulldogs’ starting quarterback, an all-district point guard and all-area baseball player.
