A national pandemic couldn’t keep Tiger fans from supporting their favorite team.

Although last Saturday’s 13th annual Rockdale Tiger Booster Golf Tournament was canceled, the drivethrough fish fry sold out in under two hours.

Two hundred and seventy plates of fish, hushpuppies and cold slaw were doled out by masked volunteers in triple-digit weather to people waiting in cars that snaked from the field house parking onto Murray Avenue.

The Rockdale Fire Department volunteered to cook. Lee Parsley provided the cooking trailer, while Charles Alford provided the cooking oil.

Students ran through the line of cars taking orders as adults handed out the plates.

Booster members delivered plates of food to the parking lot every few minutes as others unpacked and passed out the plates to customers.

“Thank you all who came out to support our athletes,” Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Jacob Campsey said. “The turnout was unbelievable. This community’s support continues to blow me away. I am proud to be a Rockdale Tiger. I can’t say thank you enough.”

Fish fry sponsors were: Bland Construction, Brady’s Pest Control, Citizen’s National Bank, Classic Bank, Climate Control A/C & Heating, Cotton Logistics, Floyd’s Glass, Shayne and Kaysie Eddleman, Miller-Starnes Chevy-Buick, NAPA, Pizza Hut, Pruett Insurance, Quinney Cabinets, Rockdale Building and Materials Center, Rockdale Knights of Columbus, RFCU, The Rockdale Reporter, Rockdale Signs & Photography, Rockdale Welding Scott’s Body Shop and Windham Roofing.

All proceeds will be used for Rockdale Tigers Athletics.
